Dr. Richard Mestayer, III is a board-certified psychiatrist and neurologist with nearly four decades of clinical experience in psychiatry, addiction medicine, and stress-related disorders. He earned his M.D. from Louisiana State University Medical Center and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia, where he served as Co-Chief Resident and later trained psychiatric residents in psychosomatic medicine and personality disorders.

Dr. Mestayer spent 27 years directing the Behavioral Medicine and Stress Treatment Units at Ochsner Foundation Hospital and was recognized with multiple honors, including “Teacher of the Year,” “Best Doctor in New Orleans,” and Ochsner’s “Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award.”

Since 2005, his work has focused on addiction recovery and the clinical application of innovative molecular therapies. He has served as Chief Psychiatric Consultant at Springfield Wellness Center, and founder of BR+ M.D. Consultants, training physicians in innovative treatment protocols.

Dr. Mestayer is an active researcher and author in the field of neuropsychiatric disease, with peer-reviewed publications and presentations spanning addiction, withdrawal, and neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.
