Kurt Wassenaar is a serial entrepreneur, innovator, investor and designer with a track record of founding and scaling technology-driven healthcare companies. Performance Medical Technologies is his ninth startup. He previously was a co-founder and CEO of Medical Automation Systems, a leader in bioinformatic technologies related to Point of Care Diagnostic Testing, global partners with Roche Diagnostics, acquired by Alere and subsequently Abbott. MAS is now the core of Abbott Diagnostics Center for Global Informatics.

Mr. Wassenaar also was co-founder and CEO of The Epsilon Group which pioneered the first “in-silico” FDA phase I clinical trial systems for Type I and II Diabetes. He was co-founder and CEO of Computational Diagnostics which developed the first non-invasive test for detecting neo-natal sepsis, and co-founder and CEO of Clinical Information Systems which pioneered physician diagnostic support systems using evidenced based medicine and advanced data search technologies.

He holds a BSc. with chemistry, computer science, and Architecture majors, and a MArch degree with a concentration on scientific and healthcare facilities from the University of Michigan. He served as Chief Architect for the University of Virginia Medical Center and was Director of Research and Technology at the University of Virginia School of Architecture.
